From exposure to action: confronting the health impact of air pollution

Air pollution is a public health emergency. Join us for a timely and impactful event exploring how clinicians can lead the way in protecting patients and communities from its harmful effects.

This session will cover:

  • The multi-system health impacts of air pollution across the life course—from preconception to old age.
  • The disproportionate burden on vulnerable and marginalised communities, including the role of indoor air pollution and housing inequality.
  • Actionable steps clinicians can take to reduce exposure, communicate risks, and advocate for cleaner air.
  • This event builds on the findings of the Royal College of Physicians’ 2025 report, ‘A breath of fresh air’, which highlights that air pollution continues to contribute to an estimated 30,000 deaths annually in the UK and costs the economy up to £50 billion. The report calls for urgent recognition of air pollution as a public health issue, not just an environmental one.
