CVP John Dean in conversation with CQID ED Ian Atkinson
In this discussion, Dr Dean shares his insights into the role, highlights the aspects of the role he has enjoyed the most, and addresses some of the challenges he has faced during his time as CVP.
The CVP is nominated by RCP Council (based on nominations received from the fellowship) and elected by the fellows of the RCP. Nominees should have at least 5 years’ standing as a fellow by end of the nomination period.
You will be expected to demonstrate interest and experience in the improvement and delivery of high-quality clinical services and patient safety at a local, regional or national level. You will provide leadership to the RCP for clinical service improvement and patient safety, working with other clinical leaders within the RCP, medical specialties and the NHS to deliver this remit. A two-person job-share arrangement is possible for this role.
Fellows may nominate candidates for the role to serve between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2028.
