Dr Debbie Wake

Dr. Debbie Wake is the CEO and co-founder of MyWay Digital Health (MWDH), a company dedicated to improving diabetes management globally through data-driven solutions. She has played a pivotal role in developing MyDiabetesMyWay, a platform recognized for its innovative use of AI and informatics in diabetes care. The system supports personalized healthcare, provides educational resources, and has been deployed in over 30% of NHS regions in the UK. Additionally, MWDH is expanding globally to regions such as the Middle East, Malaysia, and India​.

Dr Katie Malbon

Dr Katie Malbon is a consultant paediatrician and clinical director at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust.

Dr Nivedita Aswani

Dr. Nivedita Aswani is a consultant pediatrician with extensive experience in managing complex pediatric health conditions, including diabetes and obesity. She is affiliated with reputable NHS institutions and plays a critical role in advancing specialized care for children. Dr. Aswani is also involved in initiatives focused on improving health outcomes for children through community engagement and tailored healthcare programs such as DigiBete for children with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. 

 

This webinar, led by Dr Katie Malbon, features Dr Debbie Wake and Dr Di Aswani discussing the use of digital platforms in health  managing diabetes, particularly for children and young people. The speakers highlight platforms such as MyWay Digital Health, which integrates electronic health records with educational resources to support self-management, and DigiBete, a trusted resource for paediatric diabetes care.

The conversation emphasises the importance of accessibility and inclusivity, achieved through co-production with patients and families. Both platforms are designed to be culturally relevant and user-friendly, incorporating features such as text-to-speech, translations, and intuitive interfaces to reduce barriers for less tech-savvy users.

Challenges such as engaging teenagers transitioning to adult care and addressing digital exclusion for older users are also discussed. Discussions also lead to advocate for simplifying tools, involving patient feedback, and offering alternative support for those who prefer non-digital methods.
