Dr Mary Miller introduces the National Audit of Care at the End of Life (NACEL), which evaluates the quality of hospital care provided to patients at the end of life.
Now in its sixth year, NACEL uses case reviews, bereavement surveys, staff feedback, and organisational data to identify areas for improvement. A new data and improvement tool allows clinicians to benchmark performance and drive change locally. Dr Miller encourages doctors to engage with NACEL findings and collaborate with end-of-life care leads to enhance patient and family experiences at this critical stage.
